Description

This charming late Queen Anne rowhouse, ca 1908, one in a row of similar handsome peaked roof houses, is located on a lovely tree lined Noe Valley block, north of 24th Street. The façade, with its distinctive sunburst gable decoration, has been carefully restored. The terrazzo front stairs and porch have a handsome balustrade, and a large red bougainvilla frames the garage door opening.

Most of the original interior detailing is intact or has been restored, including coved ceilings, built in china cabinet, and banister. The kitchen has beautiful natural cherrywood cabinets, built by the owner, a well known cabinetmaker. The kitchen is very bright, with good east and south exposure, and overlooks the large east garden. The formal dining room opens directly to a large deck that leads to the yard. There is a full bath off the entry hall, and light oak floors throughout on the main level, painted fir above. The entire house is bright and open with an excellent floor plan, and internal access to the basement. The second floor has two spacious bedrooms and a tiled full bath. The front bedroom has good views west to Twin Peaks. There are two working fireplaces, one in the living room and the other in the front bedroom. There is a great deal of attention to detail here, and it creates a charm rare in today’s homes. The quality of restoration is exceptional, and its sense of integrity is evident.

Systems have been updated: forced air central heat, circuit breakers (100 amp main), copper supply plumbing, double paned windows, and much exterior wall insulation. The large basement has good workshop/storage space, a washer and dryer, and parking for one large car. The lengthy east facing yard is beautifully landscaped.

Area

Noe Valley is a wonderful family neighborhood that has long had a special cachet.   This classic San Francisco neighborhood is known for its good period architecture, safe environment, warm weather, and its five block long 24th Street shopping area.   There is good public transportation nearby to the financial district, and easy access south to the Peninsula and South Bay via Highway 280.   In addition, IT corporate buses from the Peninsula stop at several locations in Noe Valley.
