Film Review

New York, I Love You

Very clever assemblage of ten stories by ten different directors, set in NY, with some connections between the stories. Each only 5-10 minutes long, most well done with generally outstanding acting and terrific music. Many recognizable locations. Each story illustrates some aspect of love: platonic, erotic, parental, self, etc. Similar in structure and content to Paris, I Love You. Like Paris, each director has to develop a story in a very short time, and most do it well. Impressive cast: Chris Cooper, Christina Ricci, Robin Wright Penn, Natalie Portman (also a director), Julie Christie, James Caan, Orlando Bloom, Maggie Q, and more. The convergence at the end was haunting. Mixed reviews by critics, but I found it very absorbing and entertaining.
